Eugene T. Sheehy, a cherished husband, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on January 3, 2026, at the age of 83 in Deer Park, NY. Born on November 17, 1942, in the Bronx, NY, Eugene lived a life characterized by kindness and generosity, touching the hearts of those around him.

Eugene dedicated much of his working life as a telephone lineman for Verizon, where he was known for his remarkable work ethic and commitment. A proud US Army veteran, he served his country honorably, carrying with him the values of duty and service throughout his life.

One of Eugene's greatest joys was traveling, particularly to Peru, a place that brought him much happiness. His adventurous spirit and big heart made him a beloved figure among all who were privileged to know him.

Eugene's memory will forever be cherished by his beloved wife, Carmen Sheehy, to whom he was deeply devoted. He was a great brother to his siblings: Catherine Tansey and her husband John, Anne Marie Byrnes and her husband Eugene, Edward Sheehy and his wife Eva, James Sheehy and his wife Stella, Helen Trotta and her husband William, and Margaret Pyne and her husband Robert. The love he shared extended to many nieces and nephews, who will also hold onto the memories of their uncle with great fondness. Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Bridget Sheehy, along with his brother John Sheehy and sister Mary Jennings O'Grady. Their loss is felt deeply, but Eugene’s legacy of compassion and warmth will continue to resonate with his family and friends.

Visitation services to honor Eugene will be held on January 11, 2026, at Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home, located at 1701 Deer Park Avenue, Deer Park, NY. Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects during the following times: from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM.

As we remember Eugene T. Sheehy, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with moments of joy and an unwavering commitment to those he loved. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.
