It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Eugene "Bubby" Shifflett, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud business owner whose life was defined by hard work, integrity, faith, and unwavering service to his community.
A native of Prince William County and a lifelong member of the Stafford community, Bubby was more than a businessman - he was a cornerstone of the town he loved. In 1983, he founded Shifflett's Trash Service with determination and a strong work ethic, building his company from the ground up. Through years of dedication and perseverance, he grew a respected business that provided essential services to countless families and businesses throughout the area.
His leadership and tireless commitment created jobs, supported local families, and strengthened the very fabric of the community. Bubby believed strongly in investing back into the place he called home, leading not only through his business but through his example of honesty, generosity, and dependability. His impact can be seen in the lives he touched, the opportunities he created, and the enduring strength of the town he helped shape.
Above all else, Bubby was a family man. He was the dedicated and loving husband of Rita Shifflett, whose partnership and love were the foundation of his life. He was a proud and devoted father to Marvin Davis (Valerie), Daryl Shifflett (Kristine), Danny Shifflett (Ashley), Kenneth G. Shifflett (April), and Kenneth M. Shifflett (Cassidy). His greatest joy was his family, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
He was a cherished grandfather to Ashley Jackson, Amber Jennings, Andrew Davis, Michelle Shifflett, Karyanne Shifflett, Katelynn Shifflett, Kacie Shifflett, Kenzie Shifflett, Alexa Shifflett, Ashton Shifflett, Jesaiah Shifflett, Hezekiah Shifflett, Kaelen Smith, Alicia Gillespie, Lauren Smith, and Brennan Smith, and was further blessed with ten great-grandchildren who brought immense pride and happiness to his life.
A man of strong values, character, and faith, Bubby leaves behind a legacy that lives on in his family - especially in the work ethic, compassion, and commitment to service he proudly passed down to the next generation. He will be remembered for his dedication, generosity, and the lasting difference he made in Stafford.
Eugene "Bubby" Shifflett is lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and the entire community he served so faithfully. May he rest in eternal peace.
