Eugene C. 'Gene' Sievers Jr.

Died: March 5, 2026
Eugene C. "Gene" Sievers Jr., 72, of Grant Park, IL, died on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, IL.
He was born on July 28, 1953, in Chicago Heights, IL, the son of Eugene C. and Frances Louise Williams Sievers, Sr.
He married Kathryn Ann Sherwood on July 7, 1973.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Sievers of Grant Park, IL; his daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Jerry Loitz of Grant Park, IL; his son, GT Sievers III of Grant Park, IL; his three sisters, Connie and Mike Wimberly of Fort Myers, FL, Shirley and Russ Koehn of Watseka, IL, and Linda and Glenn Fox of Bourbonnais, IL; five grandchildren; Ashton (Elle) Loitz, Hadleigh Loitz (Daniel Palan), Sawyer Loitz, Gabriella Sievers, and Cody Agney; and two great grandchildren, Olivia Agney and Leighton Loitz. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He retired from Anheuser-Busch, where he worked as a draft specialist. He previously worked for K&E Distributing (Stroh's Distributing), which was owned by his father.
He was a member of the St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Grant Park, IL.
He enjoyed refinishing furniture and collecting antique radios. In his younger years, he could be found working on landscaping projects and gardening. Eugene was a huge Alabama Football fan and cheered on the Crimson Tide whenever he could. He had a passion for animals. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the Cotter Funeral Home in Momence, IL. To honor his love of the Crimson Tide, please dress casually wearing red or Alabama attire.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2026, at the St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Grant Park, IL. The Rev. Doug Zimmerman will officiate. Interment will be at the Heusing Cemetery in Grant Park, IL.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Sunrise Center Animal Rescue in Kankakee, IL in honor of Gene's love for animals.

Kathy, Stephanie, GT and the extended Sievers family, I am truly sorry for the loss of Gene. I´ll always remember him fondly from our time together at City, he was a lovely man who taught me many things over the years. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers. God bless
