Eugene Trame Obituary

Eugene T. "Slim" Trame

March 9, 1946 - April 7, 2025

Trenton, Illinois - Eugene T. "Slim" Trame, age 79, of Trenton, passed away peacefully Monday, April 7, 2025, at his home. He was born March 9, 1946, in Breese, a son of the late Eugene H. and Esther (nee Litteken) Trame.

In addition to his parents, Slim was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly Arentsen; sister, Theresa (Tom) Atwood; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul "Shorty" and Marcella (nee Markus) Richter; and brothers-in-law, and sister-in-law, Jerry Lee, Maurice Richter, and Frances Richter.

Slim is survived by his loving wife, Tess Trame (nee Richter), of Trenton, whom he married August 2, 1968, at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese; children Cassie (Gary) Pollmann of Trenton and Curt (Stacey) Trame of Maybee, MI; son-in-law, Gary (Julie) Arentsen of Damiansville; grandchildren, Abby (friend, Nick Mensing) Arentsen, Cole (friend, Asia Jansen) Arentsen, Riley (friend, Hunter Ottensmeier) Pollmann, Brady (friend, Lyndsey Richter) Pollmann, Rowan Trame, Scarlett Trame, and Lucian Trame; siblings, Pete Trame, Mary Lee, and Barb Trame, all of Trenton; brother-in-law, Phil (Kathy) Richter of Belleville; numerous nieces and nephews; and his fur-buddy, CoCo.

Slim was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, brother, loyal friend, and a stranger to no one. He served his country with honor in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967. Slim dedicated his professional life to building and craftsmanship. He retired as a Superintendent from Poettker Construction Company and previously worked at Arentsen Construction as a skilled carpenter. He was a proud member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton, the Carpenters Union Local 662 in Freeburg for over 57 years, and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 269.

He found great joy in the outdoors-hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time on his land brought him peace. Slim had a special gift for connection; he never met a stranger and had a warm, easy way with people. He especially loved following his grandchildren's school and sporting events, always cheering them on with pride.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton with Fr. George Zieba presiding and Deacon Glenn Netemeyer assisting. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Trenton.

Visitation will be Friday, April 11, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and again Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 8:00 – 9:30 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.

In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to Jared Burke Foundation or Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 269 and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 105 S. Main St. Trenton, IL 62293, who is serving the family.
