I grew up with Eugene in the same neighborhood, and we were classmates at FAMU High. I always admired him. He had a no-nonsense, straight forward manner tempered with a great sense of humor and ease of laughter. Eugene was a fine man even then. I'm not surprised that he lived the impressive life he had. He was one of the good guys.
