Eula Cooper

1938 - 2025

Eula Cooper Rocky Mount - Eula Elizabeth Cooley Carpenter Cooper "Notsie", age 87, passed away peacefully on

December 30, 2025. She was born on April 10, 1938, to the late Joseph Ralph Cooley and Eula

Boone Cooley.

Eula was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lee Carpenter and later in life, James

Cooper ("Pop"); her parents; her sisters, Nina Annette Cooley, Ruth Woodall, and Dora Heyer;

her brothers, Joseph "Buck" Cooley and Horace Cooley; and her stepchildren, Carolyn Jackson,

Lynn Gardner, Barbara Anderson, and Larry Dale Cooper.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children and stepchildren: son Gary Lee Carpenter

(Laura Jeanne); daughters Jackie Carpenter Pridgen and Wendy Carpenter Taylor (Tommy);

son Jimmy Cooper; and stepdaughter Jackie Patterson.

Eula was a proud and devoted grandmother to Jennifer Taylor, Phillip DeMuth (Amy), Kara Bass

(Travis), Joseph Purvis (Morgan), Josh Harlow(Mandy), Natalie Harlow, and Heather Harlow.

She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Austin Jimenez (Jocelyn) and Emily Register. In

addition, she leaves behind many beloved grandchildren.

Eula, affectionately known as "Notsie," loved her crafts and painting and was known as a hard

worker throughout her life. She found great joy in cooking for her family and opening her home

with love. Her three children were truly her heartbeat, and she devoted her life to caring for

those she loved. Eula also served her community faithfully and will be remembered for her

giving heart and strong spirit.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Amedisys Hospice team of

Greenville, NC, for their compassionate care. Special thanks are also extended to her devoted

caregivers: Martha Eason, Diane Sanders, Deana Smith, Jocelin Linares-Romero, Elena

Medina, and Raven Pace.

Eula's legacy of love, service, and dedication to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew

and loved her.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at

Cornerstone Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Parker and Rev. C.J. Cauble officiating. A visitation

will be held at 10:00am -11:00am prior to the service.
