Eulav Mitchell Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 10, 2026.
Eulav Pearl Cornwell Mitchell, 92, known fondly as Bea to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, at Carroll Hospital, Westminster, Maryland. She was born on October 3, 1933, in the close-knit community of Sneedville, Tennessee.

The daughter of the late James and Alpha (Perry) Wilder, Eulav grew up surrounded by a large and loving family. Although she was predeceased by her siblings Jim, Lester, Dee, Jess, Vault, AJ, Hallie, Nan, Nola, Hattie, and Bessie, the ties of kinship and the memories they shared remained a source of joy and comfort to her throughout her life.

Eulav's journey led her from Tennessee to Howard County, Maryland where she contributed to the community as a dedicated school bus driver as well as a cafeteria worker, for many years.

In matters of faith, Eulav was a devout Christian and a longtime committed member of Glenwood Missionary Baptist Church. Her spiritual life was a cornerstone of her existence. She lived her faith through acts of kindness, a nurturing spirit, and an unshakeable belief in the goodness of God.

Eulav was blessed with love not once but twice in her lifetime. She was the cherished wife of the late Emory G. Cornwell, with whom she shared a beautiful life until his passing. She later found companionship and love again with her second husband, the late Samuel Mitchell. Together, they navigated the seasons of life with grace and mutual support.

A loving mother, Eulav is survived by her son, Thomas Cornwell and his wife Gay, and mourns the loss of her sons, the late Daniel and Mark Cornwell. Also surviving are her daughter-in-law Carolyn Cornwell. Though she felt the sting of loss with the passing of her beloved husbands and two children, Eulav's spirit remained unbroken, and her capacity to love strong.

Eulav's legacy continues through her six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her lessons of love, resilience, and faith.

Described by those who knew her best as loving, spirited, faith-filled and definitely a prankster. Eulav's presence was a gift to all who crossed her path. Her laughter was infectious, her advice was sought after, and her home was always a place of welcome and warmth.

As we bid farewell to Eulav Pearl Cornwell Mitchell, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love. Though she has departed from this earthly realm, her spirit endures, reminding us to face each day with grace, strength, and an open heart.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, followed by a funeral service at 3 PM with Pastor Billy Phebus officiating.

Interment will be in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville.
