Andover, MN - Eunice Marion Bennin, age 105, of Andover Minnesota, formerly of Cambridge Wisconsin, died peacefully on Sunday January 26, 2025, in Ramsey MN. Eunice was born December 9th,1919 to Clayton and Marie (Quale) Swerig on her parents' farm in the Town of Pleasant Springs, Stoughton, WI. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church, Stoughton WI. Eunice's early years were spent attending the Kegonsa one room school, on Highway N, Stoughton, WI. She graduated from Stoughton High School in 1937. Following graduation from Madison Business College she was employed as a secretary in Madison, WI. On October 12, 1949, she married Bernie Bennin of Cambridge, WI, where they lived and raised two daughters, Gloria Wakamiya and Patricia (Patti) Pederson. She relocated to Andover MN in 2007. Eunice was active in the Grace Lutheran Church in Cambridge, WI for 58 years. She was a member of the Rachael Circle, the WELCA, and the quilters. In her spare time, Eunice enjoyed bowling, furniture refinishing, jigsaw puzzles and traveling. She especially enjoyed traveling to Norway where she was able to see the ancestral Quale farm in Sogndal. Eunice also enjoyed knitting, making many Icelandic-patterned afghans and Norwegian snowflake-patterned mittens. She also knit hundreds of caps for newborn babies at hospitals.
Eunice is survived by her two daughters, Gloria (Richard) Wakamiya of Fair Oaks, CA, and Patricia (Dale) Pederson of Andover, MN; grandchildren, Kris (Carolina) Wakamiya of Citrus Heights, CA, Kaia (Robert) Schindlbeck) of Portland OR, Ryan (Martha) Wakamiya of Enschede Netherlands, Sonja Pederson of Minneapolis, and Thomas Pederson of Andover, MN; great-grandchildren, Leonardo, Santiago, and Isabella Wakamiya and Lucy and Ben Shindlbeck. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Bernie Bennin, in 1985; her father, Clayton Swerig, in 1980; her mother, Marie Swerig, in 1985; and her brother, Rufus Swerig, in 2006. Memorials may be directed to Koshkonong Prairie Historical Society or Lutheran World Relief.
Funeral Services will take place at 11AM on Monday, February 3, 2025 at Grace Lutheran Church in Cambridge. Visitation will take place from 10AM until the time of service.
