Eunice Mary Frericks

Eunice Mary Frericks, age 87 of New Ulm died peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 am on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. Father Jerry Meidl will celebrate the Mass, and burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9-11 am on Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm prior to the Mass.

The Christian Mothers will pray the rosary at 4pm on Friday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.

Eunice is survived by her daughters, Jan Frericks, Karen Frericks, Pam (Brian) McGlinch; her son Doug (Lori) Frericks; her sisters, Jeanette Zollner, Mary Ann Hurias; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marv Frericks; her sisters, Odelia Hillesheim, Gen Hillesheim, Angela Hilleshiem, Loretta Grosam, Eulalia "Ukee" Stueber-Krenz; her brothers, Eugene, Melvin, Victor, Joseph Jr., Herb, infant, John, and Robert Hurias.

Eunice Mary Hurias was born February 6, 1938, in Leavenworth Township to Joseph Sr. and Leona (Ludwig) Hurias. Growing up in rural Leavenworth, Eunice attended, and was a 1957 graduate from St. Mary's Catholic High School in Sleepy Eye. She was united in marriage to Marvin "Marv" Frericks on October 28, 1959, at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth. This union blessed the couple with three daughters, and a son whom together they raised in New Ulm. Early in her life, Eunice worked at the Farmers and Merchants Bank in New Ulm, but later worked from home as a loving mother and home maker. To relax, Eunice dearly enjoyed sharing her creative side through painting. She was also an avid, lifelong reader who loved settling in with a good book, always curious and eager to learn. Faith and music were central to Eunice's life, providing comfort and meaning through her entire life. She was a devout member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm, where she was active in the CCW and remained deeply connected to her parish community. Above all else, Eunice cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. Her home was a place of love, patience, and steady care, and she took great pride in her family. Eunice will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her quiet creativity, her deep faith, and the unwavering love she gave to those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the legacy of her kindness and devotion lives on in the family she so dearly loved.

Memorials are preferred to St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm.
