Eunice I. Lano, age 90 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully surrounded by her family Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. James Statz will officiate with interment following in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. VFW Auxiliary will pray at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Eunice Lano was born March 10, 1916 in Todd County, Minnesota to Lloyd and Clara (White) Barnard. She was a graduate of Osakis High School. On January 21, 1942 she married Rudolph Lano in Long Prairie, Minnesota. She followed her husband to his duty station in San Diego, California where she supported the war effort by making parachutes for the War Department. Following World War II the couple returned to Minnesota and made their home in Sauk Centre. In 1997 they moved to Lake Shore Estates and since last year she had resided at St. Michael's Nursing Home.Eunice was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and Paul F. Donart VFW Post 2853 Auxiliary. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Lloyd Lano and his wife, Diane of Ramsey; sister, Inez Beach of Eagle Bend; five grandchildren, Jason (Angie) Lano, Janel (Jerry) Goss, James Lano, Jon (Wendy) Lano, Tony (Mary) Benz; and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rudy Lano on January 29, 2000; sons, Fred Lano in 1970 and Rudy "Butch" Lano, Jr. in 1993; and brother, Alger Barnard. Serving as casket bearers will be Jason Lano, Sr., James and Jon Lano, Jerry Goss, Jr., Andrew Goss and Tony Benz. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Michael's Hospital Foundation Tree of Life.
