Eunice G. Sassman, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on March 30, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas, after a short illness. She was born on April 30, 1940, in Galliano, Louisiana, where the seeds of her love for gardening took root. Eunice dedicated her life to nurturing not just her beautiful roses but also her devoted family.
Married to Louis Sassman Jr. for 36 wonderful years, Eunice found joy in every moment spent together. Their bond was a testament to love and companionship, bringing warmth and happiness into their lives. Together, they created a home filled with laughter, memories, and an unwavering support for one another.
Eunice was the proud mother, whose lives reflect the values she instilled in them. She embraced her role as a grandmother with immense love and joy, showering her grandchildren—Ziylah Gutierrez, Kimberly Gutierrez, Gabriana Jimenez, and Ilias Gutierrez—with affection and wisdom. Every fishing trip, card game, and camping adventure became precious memories that her family will hold dear forever.
Eunice's vibrant spirit wasn't confined to her family alone; she was known for her warm heart and a ready smile that could brighten any room. Her interests included gardening, where she often spent time tending to her beloved roses. She also found enjoyment in playing cards and video games, as well as fishing and camping adventures, creating lasting memories with her loved ones during their travels.
Eunice is survived by her loving husband, Louis Sassman; her son, Terry Schaare; her daughter, Joan Sassman; her sister, Genieva Adcox; her brothers, Allen Sweat and Wayne Sweat; and her adoring grandchildren. In her passing, the family remembers with fondness those who have gone before her, including her daughter Deborah Schaare, brothers Thomas James Sweat, Freddy Sweat and Jimmy Sweat, sister Cindy Allen, and son Lonnie Sassman.
As friends and family gather to honor her memory, they will find comfort in the shared stories of Eunice's warmth and kindness. A visitation will be held on April 8, 2025, at Sawyer-George Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Eunice will then be laid to rest during an interment service at Memorial Park Cemetery in Robstown at 12:30 PM.
Eunice's legacy of love, strength, and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Those fortunate enough to have crossed her path will forever treasure the memories, laughter, and warmth she brought into their lives.
