Eva (Evans) Chachere, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend, peacefully went home to Jesus on August 7, 2025, at the age of 92, having lived a blessed and fulfilling life. Eva was born on April 3, 1933 in
Corpus Christi, Texas, and married the love of her life, T.W. (Dub) Chachere on July 3, 1952. They lived in the Corpus Christi/Portland, Texas area for their entire married life, celebrating 66 years together before Dub passed away in 2018. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Melvin, Tom and Calvin (Red) Evans, sisters-in-law Elaine Sorrels, Gloria Evans, Barbara Evans, and brother-in-law Jack Chachere.
She was blessed with a huge, loving family who are all thankful for her life and her legacy, including her daughter Linda Chalker and husband Glenn (Tulsa, OK), son Eddie Chachere and wife Gaye (Portland, TX), 9 grandchildren (Cameron, Casey, Christal, Jennifer, Cheryl, Andrea, Maureen, Tricia, and Anne; 16 great grandchildren (Reise, Bryer, Asher, Shepherd, Lydia, Finley, Ella, Abe, Cale, Hagan, Rachael, Morgan, Cameron, Patrick, McKenzie, and Matt); numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Eva retired after twenty-plus years in the Corpus Christi school district as an educator of elementary-aged children. She and Dub had a wide-spread and deep set of friends and family, and drove far and wide on multiple road trips, year after year to spend time with them. Mommo (or Aunt Eva), as the family called her, was known for her loving heart, quick wit, truth-telling, and for keeping Poppa (Dub) from getting into (or causing!) too much mischief!! Mommo and Poppa were such a wonderful couple for so long that it is hard to think of one with out the other.
She will be celebrated and laid to rest beside Dub at Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 11:00am.
