Eva F. Ethen peacefully passed away on February 17, 2026 surrounded by her family.
Eva was born May 6, 1922 in St Cloud, Minnesota to Louis and Frances (Huschle) Sand. She married Maurice E. Ethen on August 3, 1943 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St Cloud. After serving during World War II, Maurice and Eva settled in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. In 1960 they relocated to St. Paul, Minnesota where she lived until she passed. She was an active member of Maternity of Mary Church for 66 years. She devoted her life sharing her faith by leading the Altar and Rosary Society, Befrienders, starting the prayer line, and conducting prayer services at local senior rest homes. She was also a member of St. Anne’s Christian Women. She believed the greatest gift she could give her children was her faith. She was a prayer warrior.
Eva loved to crochet, sew, garden, play cards, play games with her children and grandchildren, fishing (she loved a fresh fish fry) and spending time at her lake home on Platte Lake, AKA - her happy place. She was happiest when surrounded by family. If she could have kept her children from ever moving out she would have.
She is survived by her children, Jean (Jack) Jenson, Chrisann (Patrick) Jones, Daniel (Charlene), and Peter (Carolyn); 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; brother, Myron (Jeanette) Sand; sister, Roseanne Bjorklund; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice E. in 2000; children, Maurice D., John, Terrence, Joan Hines, and LuAnne Aamodt; granddaughter, Jessica Jenson; and siblings, Genevieve Sand, Lucy Thueringer, Delroy Sand, Cletus Sand, Allan Sand, Collette Ruprecht, and Mary Jane Krippner.
Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Maternity of Mary Catholic Church, 1414 N Dale St., St. Paul, Minnesota. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 - 11:00 AM Tuesday. Private entombment at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Eva’s memory to the charity of choice.
