Eva Howe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dupuis Funeral Home - Ashland on Feb. 27, 2026.
Eva Lois (Timson) Howe, 94, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on February 23, 2026.

Eva was born in Plymouth, New Hampshire, on November 30, 1931, to John and Ruby L. (Hill) Timson. She was raised in Campton, New Hampshire, and attended Campton schools.

On March 31, 1950, she married the love of her life, Charles Allen Howe. Together, they shared 75 wonderful years of marriage filled with devotion, family, and faith.

Eva was a strong woman who helped her husband use a crosscut saw to fell the trees from which lumber was milled to build their house. She then made that house into a home where she raised her children and their progeny on a steady diet of wild game provided by her husband, as well as chickens, pigs, beef and vegetables she helped raise and preserve for winter use.

Eva worked as a chambermaid at the Black Horse Hotel and also sewed and sold baseballs, all while raising her family. A hardworking and devoted mother, her greatest pride and joy were her children and the generations that followed.

She loved spending time with her family, playing board games, putting together puzzles, and hosting cookouts surrounded by every generation of children in her life. Her heart was especially full when it came to her great-great-grandchildren, whom she loved deeply. Eva also cherished the simple, peaceful moments sitting in a rowboat at Flat Mountain Pond, watching her husband fish, and enjoying quiet time together at the rustic camp with their children. In their later retirement years, Eva and Charles enjoyed a trip to Pennsylvania deer hunting and trips along the Maine coast in their travel trailer and at sea-side cottages.

Eva is survived by her husband of 75 years, Charles Allen Howe; her daughter, Linda Zimmer; her son, Allen L. Howe, and wife Sandra Sonnichsen; her grandchildren, Candy A. Fouts and husband Jon Fouts, Billie-Jo Purcell and husband Shawn Purcell, Toni L. Zimmer and fiancé Jeremy Somers, Thomas Howe and husband Thomas Goeschelbauer; her great-grandchildren, Jake, Patrick, Timothy, Anthony, Nicholas, and Katlin; and her great-great-grandchildren, Brantley, Isabella, Bailee, and Berkley.

A graveside service will be held in the spring of 2026 at Trinity Churchyard Cemetery, 926 NH Route 175, Holderness, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eva Howe's name to Comfort Keepers and Pemi-Baker Hospice and Home Health in Plymouth, NH 03264. For more information go to: Dupuisfuneralhome.com.
