Evan Charles Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Whitlock Mortuary, Inc. on Mar. 5, 2026.
Evan Sigourney Charles, 55, of Cumming, Georgia, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born November 9, 1970, in Cobb County, Georgia, Evan was raised in Toccoa, where she developed the creativity, curiosity, and compassion that would characterize her life. After graduating from Stephens County High School, she attended both Piedmont College and the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Evan was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord deeply and reflected that faith in the way she lived and cared for others. She was an exceptionally talented and creative individual who shared her gifts in many ways throughout her life-as an author, artist, musician, interior decorator, and gardener. Those who knew Evan recognized her unique ability to bring beauty and warmth into every space and every relationship she touched.

She was also a passionate conservationist and animal lover, dedicating much of her heart to the care and protection of animals. In keeping with the generous spirit that defined her life, Evan gave the gift of life to others through organ donation upon her passing, a final act of compassion and selflessness.

Evan is survived by her mother, Jenna Charles of Toccoa, Georgia; her sister, Dr. Jennifer Austin (Dr. Rick) of Demorest, Georgia; her much-loved nephews, Sloan Austin and Brice Austin, both of Demorest; her longtime companion, John Hill of Gainesville, Georgia; and numerous loving cousins.

A private service celebrating Evan's life will be held by her family at a later date.

In honor of Evan's lifelong love for animals, memorial contributions may be made to a local humane society of your choice or to the ASPCA.

While her absence will be deeply felt, her family finds peace in the promise that she is now whole and at rest in the presence of her Lord.

Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers and sign the online guestbook at www.whitlockmortuary.net.
