Evangeline R. Ngayan

Evangeline R. Ngayan (née Rimasug), affectionately known as "Nene" or "Vangie", age 84, passed away on January 19, 2026.

Born in San Remigio, Antique, Philippines, Evangeline grew up in the Philippines alongside her siblings and went on to earn degrees in Secretarial Science, Accounting, and Finance from Ililio City College and Lyceum of the Philippines. After moving to the United States, she enjoyed long careers with Union Carbide (Dow), Gordon Furniture, and eventually Independence Blue Cross, where she earned Award of Excellence in 2002. She prided herself in her ability to provide for her family, both here in the United States and in the Philippines.

Evangeline was a devout woman with a strong faith in God, and attended many churches throughout the years, including the First Filipino Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Rhawnhurst Presbyterian Church, Westminster Presbyterian Church, and Olney Presbyterian Church. Her warm smile, singing voice, and skill at the piano bench will be greatly missed amongst the church choirs.

Most of all, Evangeline loved spending time with her family. She treasured each and every moment with her grandchildren, Madison and Aidan, who always looked forward to whatever surprises she would pull out of her purse. Holidays were always special occasions, filled with music and home-cooked treats.

Evangeline is preceded in death by her parents, Leo Philsen and Leonarda Rimasug, her brothers: Philsen, Enrique, and Julian, and her sister, Plucerfina Conolly.

She is survived by her daughter, Evangeline Grace (Robert) Korn (née Ngayan), her grandchildren, Madison and Aidan, her former spouse, Venizer S. Ngayan, and her brother, Norberto (Nanie) Rimasug. She is also survived by many other extended family members across the U.S. and the Philippines.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Evangeline's Life Celebration on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at the John F. Givnish Life Celebration Home located at 10975 Academy Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19154. A visitation will be held from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 AM. Interment to immediately follow at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia, PA.
