Evelyn J Birmingham, 94 of Texarkana, Texas died on Friday, October 31, 2025, in Burleson, Texas.

Evelyn Jean Birmingham, affectionately known as "Mrs. Jean," was born July 28, 1931, in Texarkana, Texas, to the late James and Ruth Collins. She was the eldest of two children and was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Collins.

After graduating from school in the Linden community, she was united in marriage to the late Rev. O.V. Birmingham. To this union, five children were born.

Ms. Jean was the best wife, mama, and Grannie: a nurturer, a listener, and a gentle guide. Her home was filled with love, comfort, wisdom, and laughter. She was the heart of her family: steadfast, stylish, and strong. She poured herself into every conversation, every hug and every meal. Absolutely nothing compared to the taste of her famous fried chicken and 7-Up cake.

Mrs. Jean was a woman of beautiful elegance and timeless class. She carried herself with grace, sophistication, quiet strength, and unwavering faith.

She served faithfully alongside her husband, standing proudly and gracefully as a First Lady for over 40 years. Whether encouraging others with her warm smile, praying for her family, or supporting the church ministry, Ms. Jean lived a life of service, dignity, and love. Her smile could light up any room, lift any head, and warm any heart.

She leaves a lasting legacy to be cherished by her children:

One son - Vinson Birmingham, Texarkana, TX.

Four daughters - Carolyn Allen, Texarkana, TX. Saundra Kay Mock, Dallas, TX.

Rosalind Jenkins (Theodore), Burleson, TX. and Susan Michelle Paul (Tracy), McKinney, TX.

She was blessed with twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her sister-in-love - Earnestine Chism of Atlanta, TX; three sisters-in-law - Helen Buchanan and Onedia Springfield of Houston, TX; Jean Collins of Texarkana, TX. and one brother-in-law - John Birmingham (Ida Faye) of Atlanta, TX.,

She is also survived by her Birmingham family, extended family members, spiritual children, and friends who loved her dearly.

Though Mrs. Jean has departed this earthly life, her presence will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved her. Her elegance, grace, strength, and devotion to her family will be remembered always.

Her children arise up, and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praiseth her.

Proverbs 31:28 KJV
