Evelyn M. Brown (Scheifler), age 93, of Knightstown, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her residence on October 6, 2025. She was born on August 1, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Emil Scheifler and Olga Scheifler (Graul). She was the beloved wife of the late Bruce A. Brown.
She is survived by her children Lorraine J. Brown, Sharon A. Ginter, Evelyn M. Mogren and Bruce E. Brown. Surviving grandchildren are Kenneth Winger Jr., Aaron and Benjamin Mogren, Brittany Richey and great granddaughters Raylea, Mallory and Kamry Richey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Olga Scheifler, her beloved husband Bruce, infant daughters Katherine Brown and Nancy Brown, siblings Emil, Bill, Elizabeth and Olga and grandson Curtis Winger.
Evelyn’s first job, after 8th grade, was as a librarian at the St. Louis Public Library. She was very proud of working there. Evelyn was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 152 as well as a devoted homemaker who lovingly cared for her family and home on their farm. Her life was in faith, family, and the simple joys of rural living. She will be remembered for her warmth, determination, appreciation for simple living and the love she poured into every aspect of her life.
Evelyn will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana.
