Evelyn Caplin, aged 96, of Bala Cynwyd, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Evelyn was born on July 8, 1929, in Philadelphia to Barney and Dora (nee Barash) Nierenberg.
A proud graduate of Temple University, Evelyn dedicated her career to education, initially teaching at Mastbaum Vocational High School in Philadelphia. She later served as a substitute teacher in various schools across Abington and Philadelphia, leaving a lasting impact on countless students.
Evelyn was predeceased by her beloved husband, Herbert Caplin, her loving parents, and her sister, Jeannette Sigall. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Audrey (nee Caplin), and son-in-law, Bob Friedel. Evelyn also leaves behind her adoring grandchildren, Benny and Melanie Friedel, who cherished their time with her.
Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Tuttleman Chapel at Adath Israel, located at 250 N. Highland Avenue, Merion Station, Pennsylvania 19066. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be available via livestream at Adath Israel Livestream. Following the service, burial will take place at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, 1200 Bartram Avenue, Collingdale, PA 19023.
