Evelyn Henderson Obituary

Visit the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel - New Brunswick website to view the full obituary.

Evelyn Henderson was born on February 1, 1964, in New Brunswick, New Jersey to parents, Ruben Florez and Louise Henderson. She has resided in Perth Amboy, NJ since 2013. At the time of her passing, she was enrolled at Kairos University to pursue her Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies.

Evelyn Henderson cherished every moment spent with her family and loved ones. She held a special and unique bond with each of her children and grandchildren- nurturing them with her laughter, warmth, and unwavering love. Known for her quick wit and joyful spirit, Evelyn could always be counted on to crack a joke or lighten the mood. She also had a deep appreciation for music and never missed an opportunity to enjoy a good beat or dance to one of her favorite songs. Her presence brought joy, rhythm, and love wherever she went.

Guided by a heart devoted to God and to uplifting others, Evelyn found purpose and fellowship through her membership in Abundant Life Family Church (2001 - 2025), East West Coast Ministries (2013 - 2025), Bread of Life Kingdom Fellowship (2018 - 2025), and Spiritual Mid Wife under the leadership of Dr, RHMI Lacey (2023 - 2025).

Deacon Evelyn Henderson was a dedicated and invaluable member, and leader of the Bread of Life Kingdom Fellowship Family for the last 8 years. From day one, she was determined to learn, grow, develop and serve both the congregation and the community under the tutelage of her pastor, Dr. Charméne Evans. Affectionately called "Peter" (the Apostle), Evelyn was part of the original 12 pillars who helped to formally establish and launch the church in March of 2018. She was officially ordained as a Deacon on September 22, 2018, and served well in this capacity.

Although she served exceptionally well as Lead Deacon, her true passion was to serve and bless those who were less fortunate and in need of care; especially those who were homeless. With that fire inside of her, in 2019, Evelyn helped to establish and lead the Compassion Ministry and Food Pantry of Bread of Life. Because of her love and devotion to helping and loving others, hundreds have been blessed. The entire Bread of Life family will miss her heart, her smile, her passion, and her praise!

We are especially humbled by the dedication of the church in establishing the Deacon Evelyn Henderson Community Outreach Room in her honor. It is our sincere hope that this pantry will forever exude the same love, laughter, and generosity that Evelyn shared with everyone she met.

Evelyn is predeceased by her beloved parents, Ruben Florez and Louise Henderson, as well as her brother, Daryl Henderson.

She leaves behind a devoted family who will forever cherish her memory. Evelyn is survived by her siblings, Larry Henderson (Tyesha) and Stephanie Henderson; her children, Regina Henderson, Raoul Davila Jr. (Shamara), Shakya Davila, Miguel Henderson (Mary), and her cherished fur baby, Diamond Henderson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life: Shaniyah Davila, Daamier Henderson, Ceeyoni Davila, Tanaiya Grimes, Aziah Henderson, Amir Davila, Alyce Davila, Eveionna Gladney, and Lei’lani Sloan. Evelyn’s legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Malachi Johnson, Josiah Battles, and Kobe Davila her Teddy Bear (fur great-grand) and two God Children: Kianna Purnell and Ahmad Davila. Evelyn leaves behind: Nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends she has met along the way.

A Memorial Service will be held 12:00PM, Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Tabernacle Baptist Church Of New Brunswick, 239 George Street, New Brunswick, NJ, 08901.
