HURDSFIELD - Evelyn Meier, 73, of Hurdsfield, North Dakota, died Monday, February 9, 2026, at the Sanford Hospital in Bismarck with her loved ones at her side. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey at 1 p.m. Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Thursday, February 12, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Burial will be held at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hurdsfield.
Evelyn was born on May 23, 1952, in Harvey, North Dakota. She was the daughter of Jake and Rose (Peak) Meier. Evelyn grew up and attended school in Hurdsfield and graduated from Hurdsfield in 1970. The family moved to the family farm in 1970. Evelyn then moved to Bismarck and worked as a waitress. After the birth of her son, Travis Meier, she returned to the family farm where she worked alongside her mother cleaning homes, taking care of neighbors and helping on the farm. In 1992 she started working for HAV-IT in Harvey until her first heart attack in 2023 at which time she retired. She enjoyed working with clients in her care and made many friends through those years.
Evelyn greatest accomplishment and joy was her son, Travis, even when he was most challenging, she would do anything for him. She cherished the last few months with him by her side through the challenges with her health. She loved Travis and his family immensely and was happy to be on the same farm and close to her grandchildren who she spoiled every chance she got. What happened at gramma's house stayed at gramma's house. Evelyn enjoyed crafting, baking, and gardening.
Evelyn is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Ronda Meier of Tuttle; grandchildren, Torin Meier, MaKenna Meier, Taylor (Dillon) Hoffman; great-grandchildren, Addy and Gus Hoffman; brother, Victor Meier of Hurdsfield; along with extended family and friends.
