Louis Arthur Meier, born on August 28, 1942, in
Dallas, Texas, passed away unexpectedly after a short illness on February 26, 2026, in
Hendersonville, North Carolina, at the age of 83.
Louis grew up in Dallas, where he worked alongside his father at the family Gulf service station. After his father's passing, he took over the business, demonstrating a strong work ethic and dedication to his family's legacy. If you met Louis, you were instantly his friend. His outgoing personality was infectious, contagious, and hard to resist. This helped him in becoming successful in selling and trading used cars in Dallas and Austin.
His extrovertive personality continued through his midlife years which brought Cherry into the next chapter of his life. In true Louis fashion, they married in 1997 in Las Vegas on New Years Eve. In 2006, they relocated to Flat Rock, North Carolina, when Cherry accepted a position at Four Season's Hospice as Executive Director. They quickly developed long term relationships with numerous friends in the Kenmure Community.
A devoted football fan of the University of Texas Longhorns, Louis enjoyed watching and supporting Cherry's alma mater. His Texas roots instilled a lifelong love for Mexican food and margaritas. He was well known for enjoying both with friends at Janitzio's restaurant in Flat Rock.
Louis is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Agnes Rosenbohm Meier and Adolph George Meier. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Cherry Meier; his sister Mary Ann Gilder of Dallas; his son, Stephen Meier, and wife Tiffany of Dallas; his daughter, Laura Clarabut, and husband Wade, also of Dallas; and his cherished grandchildren- Jonathan, Matthew, Karsen, and Carter.
