Resilient, tenacious, determined, talented, and creative: these are just a few words that describe Harold Irven Bennett, Jr. Born on April 5, 1947 in
Walterboro, SC, Hal came into this world as a difference maker. In his developing years, living in the Lowcountry of SC, Hal was known as the hometown hero whether on the basketball court, football field, or baseball diamond he was a champion of them all. Hal enjoyed his years at Anderson University and MarsHill University where he double majored in Biology and Physical Education all the while mastering the court and field.
Hal was a jack of all trades and seemed to perfect and advance any business he started. His ability to see what something could become was a gift. He built the most beautiful homes and transformed open spaces into developed places of welcome.
Hal had his flaws as any human does. He was fully aware of his mistakes, just as much as he was of his triumphs. He rested fully on the providence of the Lord and beauty that comes from Christ alone making all things new. In Hal's final years on earth his deepest desire was for others to know this grace that had been extended to him through Christ.
Most people know Hal as the strong, accomplished, successful man that he was but those who knew him best knew him as husband, daddy, and papa. He adored his family and in his last days that is all he wanted. He couldn't have been more proud to call us...his.
