Evelyn K. Nettle, age 94, of Newark, formerly of Akron, went to be with her Lord and to her eternal home on August 5, 2025.
Ms. Nettle was born in Noble County, Ohio, to the late Frank and Hazel (Hastings) Brown. She relocated to the Akron area in 1952 to work at American Hard Rubber as a payroll clerk. She also worked at Akron Standard and I.T.W. from which she retired in 1991.
She was a member of the Lakemore United Methodist Church volunteering in many areas of the church including the prayer room. She loved music, singing, gardening, bowling and exercising in her neighbor’s pool.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Irvin D. Nettle in 2010, and her brothers, Bill Brown and Dale Brown of Quaker City, Ohio.
She is survived by her sister, RuThanna Decker of Newark, Ohio, niece Vickie Sue (Bubb) Van Horn of Barnesville, Ohio; nephews James L. (Becky) Decker and Michael W. Decker of Newark, Ohio, Robert E. (Louise) Decker of Thornville, Ohio, Christopher L. (Crystal) Brown of Salesville, Ohio and Paul F. Brown of Kentucky. Her extended family includes her neighbor Ted and Jean McQuain, Frank Skinner and friends Eileen Randall, Linda and Emery Pitman, Brenda Stricklind and Al Friedlein.
Funeral services will be held at Lakemore United Methodist Church, 1536 Flickinger Rd, Akron, OH on August 18, 2025, at 11 am officiated by Pastor Sam Martin. Family and friends may call for an hour viewing prior to the services. Burial to follow at Hillside Memorial Park, 1025 Canton Rd, Akron, OH.
