Arthur E. Welfley

Arthur E. Welfley, 87, of Akron went home to be with the Lord on March 19, 2026.

Preceded in death by his late parents, Paul and Gertrude Welfley and his brother, John E. Welfley. He worked for 10 years at Bellow Valair and retired from Lockheed Martin after 34 years. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy (1957-1961) and was a member of the Veterans Chapter 717.

Arthur is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy (Dot); his two sons, Mark (Karen) and David; his three daughters, Shelli (Willy) Traegner, Wendy (Steve) Smith, Hope (Charles) Whetsel; his sister, Linda (George) Seabeck; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Arthur enjoyed being together with family. He was a member of Victory Baptist Temple since 1980, singing in the choir and serving wherever he was needed. He felt honored to be a member of the Veterans Chapter 717 and treasured his times going to the cemetery to help place flags at fellow veteran’s grave sites.

Family and friends will be received Tuesday, March 24th from 11am to 1pm at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312. Funeral service will begin at 1pm with military honors and burial to follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
