Evelyn Jane Ossip

Evelyn Jane Ossip, 89, of Monrovia, AL passed away on February 27th, 2026, in the wee hours of the morning at Encompass Rehabilitation Center.
Evelyn was born in Hudson, New York on May 19th, 1936, to Wallace Lemon and Josephine Shook Lemon. She grew up in Tivoli, New York and attended Tivoli High School. She later attended Grasslands Hospital of White Plains, NY where she attained an associate's degree in Licensed Practical Nursing.
Evelyn met Louis Ossip in February 1958 after he was discharged from the US Air Force, where he had served with her brother, Wallace. Evelyn and Louis dated between 1958 and 1960 and were married on April 24th, 1960, in Red Hook, NY. After marriage the couple moved to Huntsville, AL, where Louis was working on Redstone Arsenal. Later they lived for periods of time in Orlando, FL, Lawton, OK, and then three years in Schwäbisch Gmünd, West Germany. Upon return from Germany in 1971 the family resided in Huntsville once again.
She and her beloved husband, Louis, shared 65 years of marriage together. Evelyn was a housewife and mother in addition to being a Red Cross volunteer for 40+ years at Huntsville Hospital. She served as a Cub Scout den mother and later a Commissioner for the Tennessee Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America. She severed as President of the Ladies Auxiliary of Elks Lodge BPOE 1648 in Huntsville. Later she joined her husband as a volunteer at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens annual Galaxy of Lights. Evelyn loved arts and crafts and was called "Crafty" by her granddaughter. She was beloved by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Arthur "Art", Wallace "Jack" and sister, Mert Kilgore.
She is survived by her husband, Louis; sister, Virginia Miller of Pittsburg, PA; sons, James and his wife, Anna, of Madison, and Matthew. of Huntsville; granddaughter, Hannah Partridge and her husband, Hunter, of Meridianville; great-grandchildren, Charlie and Caroline; and cousin, Rosemary Baldusty of Derry, New Hampshire.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4th, 2026, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home on Bob Wallace Ave., with a service immediately following. A graveside service will be a small affair at 1 p.m. on Thursday March 5th, 2026, at Maple Hill Cemetery.
