Evelyn Roberts Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bearden Funeral Home - Dawsonville on Feb. 9, 2026.
Evelyn Maxine Roberts, 77, of Dawsonville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026.

Born on November 27, 1948, in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the beloved daughter of the late Willard Max Dixe and Annie Evelyn Jones Dixe. Max was also preceded in death by her of husband, Ron Roberts; son, Wesley Roberts and brother, Tommy Dixe.

Max is survived by her son, Stewart Roberts (Linda), grandchildren, Tyler (Sarah), Cooper, Emma, Rachel, and Madalynn; sister, Laura Walls (Calvin); brother, Bill Dixe (Cindy).

Evelyn Maxine Roberts, known affectionately by many names including Maxine, Max, Mad Max, Mac, and Me Maw was a woman whose presence was as memorable as her stories. She graduated from Bethel Springs High School and went on to enjoy a long, dedicated career with AT&T, from which she later retired with pride.

Max lived life to the fullest. She deeply loved her husband, Ron, and kept his memory alive through the travels she continued after his passing, always with a story to share about him and the places they experienced together. Travel was one of her great joys, whether it was a cruise, taking road trips, or simply heading out to try a new restaurant with friends.

She had a special love for flowers and plants, each one carrying a story of where it came from and who gifted it to her. Sharing those plants brought her just as much joy as growing them, as she loved passing them along to bring life and beauty into someone else's yard. An avid baker, Max delighted in making treats for others, generously sharing her creations with family and friends.

Remarkably tech-savvy, Max stayed impressively up to date with the latest gadgets, often proudly showing off her newest device. Her grandchildren were frequently recruited to help her master the "gadget of the week," a role they filled with love and laughter. She also enjoyed quilting, card games, and spending time with friends, always active, always engaged, and always ready to go.

Max cherished her siblings deeply and shared a particularly close bond with them, valuing time spent together and the lifelong connections they held. She was known for her quick wit and wonderfully unpredictable sense of humor, keeping everyone guessing and laughing right along with her.

Above all, Max was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and an exceptionally proud grandmother. Her sons meant the world to her, and her five grandchildren were truly the light of her life. She will be remembered for her generosity, her stories, her laughter, and the way she brought warmth and life into every space she entered.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 1:00p.m. in the chapel of Bearden Funeral Home. Interment will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 11:00a.m. in Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, Georgia.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00a.m. until the service time on Thursday.
