GREENVILLE -- Evelyn Rose Sharp, age 72, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Greenville.
She was born on July 5, 1953, in Richmond, Indiana to the late Carl Wert and Alberta (Kline) Wilt.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Myron "Cork" D. Sharp, whom she married on March 9, 1973 and who passed away on October 10, 2017; her stepfather, Elmer Witt; her stepson, Douglas Sharp; and her sisters, Wilma Roark and Frances Mock.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Bobbie (Dan) Nickell and Justin (Robin) Sharp, all of Greenville; her stepdaughter, Melissa (Mark) McCoy of Florida; her grandchildren, Jacob Nickell, Zachary Mitchell, Wyatt Sharp, Samantha Nickell, and Roman Mitchell; her great grandchild, Kayden Hemmelgarn; her siblings, Bob (Barb) Wert and Carla Simons, all of Greenville; her in-laws, Pat (Roger) Curtis and Martha Sharp, all of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was a 1971 graduate of Greenville High School. She attended beauty school and developed into a talented hairdresser for over 35 years, where her creativity and warm personality made her a favorite among clients and friends. She found happiness in bowling, enjoying the outdoors, and especially in spending time by the pool, where she loved to relax and enjoy the sunshine.
Animals held a special place in Evelyn's heart, and caring for them came naturally. That compassion led her to become deeply involved with the Darke County Humane Society, where she faithfully served on the board of directors for many years.
Evelyn believed strongly in giving back, whether through her active involvement with the Greenville Elks Lodge or the many volunteer roles she embraced throughout her life. Her servant heart was evident in her work with the Darke County Cancer Association's wig program and the "Clip for a Cure" organization, where she helped bring comfort, dignity, and hope to others. She also devoted countless hours to St. Mary's School, volunteering with the school's Bingo program and always stepping in wherever help was needed.
Through every organization she served and every life she touched, Evelyn quietly made the world around her a kinder place.
A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus. Burial will follow in Greenville Union Cemetery.
