Evelyn Stevens Obituary
Evelyn Ruth Stevens, 94, of Oak Hill passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV.
Born July 30, 1929 in Mt. Olive, WV she was the daughter of the late August and Sadie Goodwin Roat.
Evelyn was a member of the Good Shepard Worship Center, in her leisure she enjoyed gardening, being a mother and a grandmother to many. She was loved by many but her greatest joy in life was being surrounded by her loving family.
She is preceded in death by siblings, Catherine Dozier, George W. Roat, Louis Roat, Margaret Dorsey, Edna Bennett, Wanda Balser, Mary Dorsey, Esther Roat, and Freddie Roat.
Those left to cherish her wonderful memory include husband, Thomas Stevens; 3 children, James 'Jackie" Roberts, Jr. and companion Elizabeth Widner, Tammy Dunn and companion David Pearson, and Debbie Fannin (Jim); a special grandson, Nathan Roberts (Misty) and granddaughter, Natalie; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Myers; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Randy McGuire officiating. Burial will follow at Montgomery Memorial Park in London, WV.
Visitation for friends will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
