Evelyn E. Stinchcomb
June 21, 1930 – September 27, 2025
Age 95
Evelyn E. Stinchcomb, 95, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She lived a long, full, and active life defined by love, dedication, and kindness.
Evelyn met her husband, Leonard "Wee" Stinchcomb, while still in high school. They shared six years of courtship before marrying in December 1952. Within their first year of marriage, they started a family that would grow to include five children-three daughters and two sons. Evelyn poured her heart into raising her children and creating a warm, welcoming home.
Later in life, Evelyn worked as a bookkeeper for her brother's business, Henry's Auto Recyclers. She devoted more than 30 years to the family business, continuing her work into her later years for her beloved nephew, Bernie Pyles Jr. Evelyn loved meeting new people and was known for making friends everywhere she went-both through her job and in everyday life.
Family was Evelyn's greatest joy. She treasured time spent with her ever-growing family, which included her five children and their spouses, her grandchildren, and nine amazing great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Elsie Lynch (Walter), Mona Meely, Doug Stinchcomb (Brenda), and Lois Ruark (Roger).
She was a proud and loving grandmother to:
Larry, Roger, Jason (Brooke), Brandon, Patrick, Shane (Olga), Reid (Kaylie), Stephanie, Ryder (Tara), Brandy (Randall), Katie (Tommy), and Haley (Michael).
She also leaves behind five great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and "adopted grandchildren" who were part of her life and heart.
Evelyn enjoyed many simple pleasures in life: reading romance novels, tending to her yard and flowers, caring for her cats, and scratching off lottery tickets with hope and a smile. In her younger years, she loved traveling across the Eastern United States and Canada, and especially cherished her trips to Southern Texas to visit her youngest son and his family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leonard (Wee) Stinchcomb; her son, Leonard (Lennie) Jr.; her parents, Elvin and Bertha Pyles Sr.; and her siblings: Elvin Pyles Jr., Edna Bergman, Mary Calloway, Frances Stinchcomb, Bernard Pyles Sr., Frank Pyles, James (Jimmy) Pyles, and Theresa Salazar.
She is also remembered as a beloved sister-in-law to Madeline Pyles, with whom she shared many cherished memories and a deep family bond.
Evelyn never met a stranger and never made an enemy. She always saw the best in people, lived with tolerance, and radiated love and kindness to all who knew her. Her presence was a gift, and her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Evelyn's memory to Meals on Wheels. If sending flowers, the family kindly requests no potted plants.
