Evelyn Joyce Trice

1927 - 2026

Evelyn Joyce Ogden Roach Trice was born June 4, 1927, in the home of her paternal grandparents in Olton, Texas, a small community in Lamb County. From that beginning, she developed a deep love for family and home that defined her life. She died peacefully in the early morning hours of Feb. 10, 2026, in Canyon, Texas. She was 98.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 16, 2026, at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Sunday, February 15, at Brooks Chapel. A private burial will follow the service at Plainview Memorial Park in Plainview, Texas.

Mrs. Trice was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Vera Castleberry; three children, Ronnie Birdsong, Rick Roach and Terry Trice; two husbands, LaVern Roach and Weldon "Birddog" Trice; a grandchild, Constance Pearl Hutcherson; her grandparents; and numerous Churchwell cousins.

She is survived by her son, Ted Trice and wife Buffi of Canyon; granddaughters Ronda Stockmyer and husband John of Enid, Oklahoma, and Tayte Trice of Canyon; and grandsons Michael Hutcherson of Austin, Texas, Jon Anthony Birdsong and wife Ilse of Antwerp, Belgium, Jason Trice and wife Kari of Canyon, Tyson Trice and partner Pedro Rocha of Cabo Frio, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, James Bailey and wife Paula of Midvale, Utah, Kris Roach of Pampa, Texas, and Kyler Roach of Floydada, Texas. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren: Jayci Trice, Nolan Riggin, Jaksen Trice, Jantsen Trice, Jentry Trice, Brooke Bailey and Nicholas Trice-Rocha; and by her son-in-law, Jon Birdsong of Portales, New Mexico. She's also survived by close friends Rebecca Pedrosa and Dr. Steven Gamble.

Above all else, Mrs. Trice was devoted to her family. She often said the greatest joy of her life was being a mother and grandmother. She chose the work of the home with pride and purpose, creating a place where children and grandchildren were loved, protected and celebrated. Her care, strength and quiet devotion shaped generations and will continue to be felt for years to come.
