Ever Charles Goodie-Preston, 50, of Houston, passed away in Houston on August 16, 2025. She was born on July 23, 1975, in Houston, Texas, to Charles and Edna (Gooden) Goodie. She was a lifelong South Union resident and loved her community. A proud graduate of Jack Yates High School, Ever went on to earn her Bachelor of Accounting degree from Texas Southern University, Summa Cum Laude. She dedicated her professional life to her work as an international tax accountant, serving clients around the world with enthusiasm and expertise. After her cancer diagnosis, she adopted the motto, "No More Waiting." She lived her life with purpose despite her pain. Ever was a traveler with an adventurous spirit who found joy in exploring the world. Her travels took her to far-flung destinations including Mexico, Ecuador, Belize, Jamaica, London, France, Istanbul, Bali, and China. She lived by her heartfelt belief that "Energy never dies in this universe." She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Preston; her son, Jackson Preston; her sister, Amanda Jo Kelly; her brother, Daniel Goodie; her sister, Zamfira Elizabeth Bingham; stepfather, W.C. Belcher; aunt Kim Bingham, and uncle Bob Gooden. Ever was preceded in death by her father, Charles Dolson Goodie; her mother, Edna Ironna Bernadette (Gooden) Goodie; her aunt Lucile Gooden and her uncles, Frank "Bunny" Gooden and Bill Gooden. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Ever's memory to the University of Houston chapter of Camp Kesem (www.kesem.org) or your charity of choice. Camp Kesem supports children through their parents' cancer and has provided strength and joy to Jackson and our family. A Celebration of Life party will be held in Ever's honor from 5 pm to 9:30 pm on September 13, 2025, at Lott Hall (6201 Hermann Park Dr, Houston, TX 77030) in Hermann Park. Please feel free to wear your vibrant colors to the memorial. The Preston and Goodie Family
