Everett "Wayne" DeLozier, age 88 of
Butler, Missouri died Saturday, December 13, 2025 at the Butler Center. He was born October 21, 1937 to Everett Francis and Iva May Hood DeLozier in
Clinton, Missouri.
Wayne, one of two children, grew up on a farm in Cole, Missouri where he attended a one-room schoolhouse until eighth grade. His family moved to
Clinton, Missouri where he graduated from high school in 1955. It was then that the family had electricity for the first time. From 1955 to 1958, Wayne was a member of the Army National Guard. He married Barbara Jean Mount on February 2, 1958 and to this union two children were born. Wayne worked at Osage Valley Electric for 41 years and one day as a lineman and retired in 1998. He was instrumental in bringing IBEW Local 53 to the company and the first employee to have air-conditioning in his service truck. Wayne was a member of the Edsel club, IBEW Local 53 and Calvary Baptist Church.
Wayne was a caring and proud family man, constantly putting the needs of his family over his own. Often times he could be found entertaining friends or family with stories of his life. Wayne enjoyed being a "snowbird," spending winters at Lake Fork, Texas with Barbara. He also had a passion for crappie fishing–often finding the spots with the largest ones. Another favorite thing was watching the races in Wheatland, Missouri, and Nascar racing…following the career of driver Johnny Fennewald. Wayne looked forward to watching football, baseball, the Porter Wagner show, eating fried chicken and going to the casinos. One of his favorite one-liners was, "He's one tough cookie, and one hard nut to crack." Though he has cast his final line, Wayne's catch will be the hearts he captured throughout his life.
Wayne is survived by two sons, Gene DeLozier and wife Diane and Brian DeLozier and wife Shannie all of
Butler, Missouri; five grandchildren, Danny DeLozier (Brittany), Dustin DeLozier (Sam), Kayla Powell (Craig), Rachel Galvan (Micah) and Jake DeLozier; and 13 great-grandchildren, Braxton, Zander, Hayden, Gage, Brooklyn, Harper, Ellie, Kensington, Grace, Isaac, Will, Silas and Miles. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara DeLozier (08/18/2018); and one brother, Larry DeLozier.
