Mr. J. Everett Lathan, 86, of Hartwell, passed away Monday, April 1, 2024 at his home.
Born on August 16, 1937 in Mt. Airy, GA, he was the son of the late Clyde S. Lathan and Elise Mae LaCount Lathan. Mr. Lathan retired from Monroe/Tenneco as an inspector, and a member of the Reed Creek Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Mitch Slaton Sunday School Class. He also loved dirt track racing, and he loved his kids & grandkids.
Survivors include his wife: Fran O'Barr Lathan of Hartwell; three sons: James Lathan of Hartwell, Mark Lathan (Tammy) of Mt. Airy, GA, and Chad Lathan (Tammy) of Dewy Rose; two daughters: Gloria Lathan of Mt. Airy, GA, and Michelle Lathan (Daniel Pridgen) of Hartwell; a daughter-in-law: Regina Lathan; two brothers: Roy Lathan of Hartwell, and Cecil Lathan of Mt. Airy, GA; two sisters: Vera O'Barr (Randall) of Mt. Airy, GA, and Frances Watkins of Toccoa; four grandchildren: Johnny Lathan (Leslie), Lukas Lathan, Tanner Lathan, Julia Lathan; and two great-grandchildren: Cameron & Case Lathan. Mr. Lathan is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Earl & Charles Lathan; three sisters: Colleen Fowler, Willene Cook, Jean Lathan; and one grandson: Cory Lathan.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at the home.
Funeral services for Mr. Everett Lathan will be Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Mr. Fred Greenway officiating. Burial will be in the Reed Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Flowers are optional, and memorials may be made to the Reed Creek Baptist Church, 116 Boleman Hill Rd, Hartwell, GA 30643.
The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
