Pecan Grove Funeral Home - WacoEverett Earl Platt was born June 25, 1943 in Thornton, Texas to Ernest and Bertie Sims Platt.
He attended school in Franklin, Texas and graduated from Franklin High School. Early years were spent on a farm in Bald Prairie helping his dad farming and ranching.
He moved to Waco after high school and worked at Marsteller’s grocery store making fifty cents an hour. He went to work for Sears in the maintenance department. He then went to work for TP&L Electric Company as a pole climber using hooks on his boots. This was before bucket trucks. He ended as a supervisor foreman of sub stations. He retired in 1999 after 36 years.
He became a full-time rancher. He really enjoyed every minute of his ranching life.
He was an awesome husband and father and brother. He was a proud grandfather and great grandfather.
He had many ranching buddies in the Cottonwood community. He depended on his three boys, Lance, Rusty and Eric and friend Klint Morgan for help on the ranch. His most valued ranch hand was his beloved wife, Linda of 59 years.
He made it very clear to his boys and Klint that he expects them to carry on running the ranch without spending any unnecessary money. His motto was buy used, fix it when it breaks and make sure all purchases are tax deductible. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Ernest and Bertie Platt. His brother-in-law Roger Vales and other beloved family members.
He is survived by his beloved wife Linda VanArman Platt; son Lance Arthur Platt and wife Elaine; son Everett Earl “Rusty” Platt, Jr; and son Eric Marshall Platt and wife Clarissa. Seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren and their families; sister Vonda Vales and brother Mark Platt; two nephews and many cousins.
Graveside Services will be at 11am on Saturday, November15 at Cottonwood Cemetery, officiated by Brother Buddy Sipe.
