Everette Junior Handy, 74, of Spencer, Iowa, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on July 3, 1951, in Spencer, Iowa, to Junior and Estelle (Smith) Handy, Everette was a man defined by his faith, his resilience, and his unwavering dedication to family and community. He proudly joined the United States Marine Corps in 1970, answering the call to serve his country, though his time in uniform was cut short.

Throughout his life, Everette worked as a laborer and handyman in various industries, earning a reputation for his strong work ethic and willingness to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. His quiet strength and humble nature spoke louder than words ever could.

A man of deep faith, Everette was devoted to his church and his community. Those who knew him best remember his gentle humor, his generosity, and his steadfast belief in doing right by others.

Everette is survived by his wife, Crystal; his children Jade, Dustin, Melanie, Toby, and Jer’al; his sisters Julie and Cindy; his grandchildren; great-grandchildren, step-children Stephanie and Marlin, and a host of family members, friends, and neighbors who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded by his parents, his wife Cathy, brother Tim, and oldest son, Shane.

He fought valiantly to the very end. He will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives he touched."
