Connie Lovell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Cremation Society of Iowa - Des Moines on Mar. 13, 2026.
Connie Fay (Tschetter) Lovell, 86, passed away peacefully in the early morning on December 8th. Connie was born May 6, 1939, to Ferd and Mary (Hofer) Tschetter in Huron South Dakota.

She was raised on a farm, in Doland South Dakota with siblings Pam Dawn (Hoganson) and Monte Lynn. Being from a large family, she had 49 first cousins and many were in the area as well. Connie and her family attended the Ebeneezer Mennonite church in Doland. She was baptized as a young adult, and her faith was always an intricate part of her life. Connies' love for children led her to become an educator. She first attended Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, South Dakota and later graduated from the University of Iowa. During this time the family sold the farm and moved to Spencer Iowa where she enjoyed her summers at Lake Okoboji and working at Brooks County Club. Her first teaching job was in Lone Tree Iowa and later Des Moines Public Schools.

She married Olin Lovell in 1970, and daughter Tara was born in 1973. Her career spanned many decades teaching second grade at various schools within the system including Hillis, Lucas, then Madison, retiring after 32 years. She was beloved by all her students for her loving kind nature which reflected in her classroom. She was a great teacher with a soft spoken temperament. Her daily attire of dresses, skirts, belts and heels were innate to her high standards of appearance. She took being a role model seriously.

Connie is proceeded in death by her parents, Ferd (1975) Mary (2006) and brother Monte (2016). She is survived by her daughter Tara Stasi (Joe) and granddaughter Gianna Faith. As well as sister Pam and sister-in-law Betty with many nieces and nephews.

Her memorial service will be held at Lutheran Church of Hope Chapel West Des Moines, December 17th at 1 pm and all are welcome. Please go here to watch the live stream: https://wdm.lutheranchurchofhope.org/funeral-livestream/
