Everna Lee (White) Grooms was born May 7, 1937, in Beloit, Kansas, one of three children of Calvin and Florence (Wilcoxson) White. The family moved to Nemaha, Nebraska in 1947, where she attended school, graduating in 1955. While in high school Everna played volleyball and was in the band.
On March 14, 1956, she married the love of her life Raymond Grooms. They were blessed with 4 children: Susan, Sheryl, Sonya, and Steve. Their children were very important to them.
Everna was a member of the Nemaha Methodist Church. She loved being a wife and mother, and later in life enjoyed being Grandma and Great Grandma. Everna was very proud of how her children and grandchildren grew into wonderful adults.
On August 12, 2025, Everna was admitted to Bryan East medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. It was there, surrounded by family, she passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the age of 88 years, 3 months, and 9 days. Her parents, husband Raymond, brother Alvin White, sister Evelyn Anderson, and son-in-law Al Koso preceded her in death.
Everna is lovingly remembered by her children and their spouses Susan Koso, Sheryl and Jerry Bebb, Sonya and John Williamson, and Steve and Lyndsey Grooms; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Nancy White; many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 20, 10:30 a.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Burial will follow in the Nemaha Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 6:00 to 8:00.
Memorials are suggested to the Nemaha Rescue Squad or the Nemaha Cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
