Frederick Wayne Jarvis, Jr., real estate attorney, age 70 died on July 31 at home surrounded by his family from a glioblastoma. Born in Philadelphia to Ruth Hagerman Jarvis and F. Wayne Jarvis, MD. He graduated from the Episcopal Academy in Lower Merion, attended Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA, where he was a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity, and Villanova University Law School. Jarvis joined the Navy for three years as a legal officer after attending U.S. Naval Justice School in Rhode Island. While in the Navy he received the National Defense Service medal and meritorious unit commendation award. As a Lieutenant he later served in the Naval Reserves. He spent twenty five years as a real estate attorney for Prudential Insurance Company working in Philadelphia, Newark, and as head council in the Washington, DC office. After retirement from Prudential, he was a contract attorney for Exxon Mobil. Jarvis was married to Carol Houck Jarvis for 40 years and father of Marie Jarvis, Silver Spring, MD, and F. Wayne Jarvis, III, Chicago, IL. He also leaves behind a son in law, Robert Szabo, and daughter in law, Allison Jarvis two grandchildren, Colt Szabo and Greta Lee Jarvis, his sister Ruth DuBois, Warminster, PA and cousin Mary Ashworth, Potomac, MD. Jarvis was also the Cub Master and Boy Scout leader for Boy Scout Troop 1427 of River Falls, for eight years. He had a great love for the outdoors especially sailing on his sail boat Typhus, a 35 foot blue water boat. Memorial contributions may be donated to St. Francis Episcopal Church, 10033 River Rd., Potomac, MD or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
