Fannie Mitchell Obituary

Fannie A. Mitchell
December 31, 1926 - July 16, 2023
Atwater, California - In Loving Memory of Our Beloved
Fannie Arzella Mitchell was born on December 31, 1926 in Tunnel Springs, Alabama to the parentage of Will P. Ranaldson & Brownie Ranaldson. She was the 14th of 14 children. Fannie was married to her husband, Ruber Mitchell, for almost 53 years until his death in 2000. God blessed this union with 5 girls: Patricia, Brownie, Wanda, Ruby and Karen. Fannie was also blessed to raise a foster son, James Chandler for 7 years.
Fannie was a successful wife, mother and investor. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially being (GG), cooking, playing bingo and traveling.
In 1971, Fannie Mitchell founded the Ebony Socialites of Atwater to help with charities and provide scholarships for African American students. In 1996, Mother Mitchell became a member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
Additionally, she was a charter member of the Friendship Baptist Church.
Mother Mitchell went home to be with the Lord on July 16, 2023. The Lord blessed Mother Mitchell with a long, beautiful life, 96 ½ years, and we find peace knowing Mother Mitchell is in the care of the Lord.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
2 Timothy 4:7-8:
May God Bless Each of You!

When I think about my Aunt Fannie, I think of a beautiful strong woman. She was full of love and compassion and she always made you feel special. She was a strong, courageous woman that loved the Lord and her family. She was also a hard-working woman. She was a motivator and an encourager who told you to be the best you could be. She was funny, serious, loving and generous.

On one of her visits to Cleveland, she told me that God has something better for me and I could own my own home again. The next time she returned, she would be my first house guest.

I will miss my Aunt Fanny and our long soul to soul conversations.

Her niece,
Minnie Lee

I am gonna miss your smile and sweet personality, you have always made me feel special like a son, we would laugh and talk after church services. I enjoyed opening your car door in the church parking lot and making sure you had a safe departure, your spirit was genuine, farewell my friend, until we meet again, It was a pleasure being one of your many sons of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in the city of Atwater Ca.

I have known Fanny all my life. She held me in her arms when I was born and she was one of my mom´s first customers for doing alterations on her clothes. She was such an amazing, amazing, loving person. I remember her with that bleach out spot in her hair when she would color it. I love that lady with all my heart, and she will greatly be missed
