Fannie Smith, 72, of Sheboygan, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at home. She was born on May 16, 1953, to the late Leroy and Daisy (Bowman) Smith. She graduated from Simmons High School and spent two years at Mississippi Valley State University. She later spent time in Gretna, LA working for Dos Gringos and then moved to San Clemente, CA, where she worked at the nuclear power plant before returning to Hollandale. She worked for Leroy Percy State Park while also taking speech pathology classes at Delta State University in Cleveland, MS. She further continued her education by taking an entrepreneur class at Mississippi Valley State University. After her time in Mississippi, she relocated to Milwaukee, WI, where she took classes, obtained her real estate license, and worked for Century 21. Eventually, she moved to Mulberry Grove, IL, where she worked for Greenville University with the kitchen staff.

During her time in Mulberry Grove, she continued her love for fishing, gardening, cooking, baking, and making her homemade wine. Years later, she relocated to Sheboygan, WI. She spent her time there enjoying all her favorite activities, in addition to playing cards and socializing with her close-knit group of neighbors.

Fannie was a kind, generous, and faithful servant to her Lord. Her children, grandchildren, sisters, and other family were always at the center of her heart. Her hardworking demeanor and humorous outlook on life allowed everyone around her to find joy in the simplest of things.

Fannie leaves behind her three children: Stacey Smith, Lawrence (Lisa) Adams, and Cassondra Adams; and her 12 grandchildren: Jaylin Murray, Jakobe Smith, Makiya Thigpin, Keyonna Patton, Skyelar Smith, Darius Smith, Deja Adams, Kayden Adams, Kalea Adams, Bryn Adams, Sophie Adams, and Claire Adams. She also leaves behind her sisters: Annie Bell Adams, Ida Bea Hill, Daisy Lee Latham, Ida Mae (Lee) Sherrod, Helen Marie Johnson, and Theresa Police.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Daisy Smith; and her siblings: Nola Day, Dorothy Wilson, Bernita Evans, Andrew Latham, Freddie Latham, and George Williams.

A Funeral Service for Fannie will take place at 12:00 PM on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Ballhorn Chapels Funeral and Cremation Care Center, 1201 N 8th St. in Sheboygan. Family will greet visitors on Friday at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Immediately after the service, Fannie will be laid to rest at Wildwood Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the Sheboygan Police Department, EMS, and Fire Department, along with her health care team through Aurora and St. Luke’s Hospital.
