Farrell Rowley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 27, 2026.
On February 18, 2026, Farrell D. Rowley passed away at the age of 96. He was born on a farm 5 miles SE of Firesteel, SD in 1929 to Fred D. Rowley and Grace (Wheat) Rowley. Farrell was educated at Werner School, Firesteel School and graduated from Timberlake High School in 1947. He liked to play baseball in his childhood and was a fan of the sport up until his passing. Farrell served with the U.S. Army for one year in 1948 before being honorably discharged to return home to help with the family farm. Farrell married Janet Louise Ruliffson in 1952 at the Firesteel Congregational Church. Farrell and Janet had three children together, Mark, Beth and Blake. Farrell went to work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a surveyor in Alaska and on the Minuteman Missile Sites in several states. Farrell then moved to Colorado Springs in 1968 and worked as a construction inspector for NORAD. He liked to golf especially after he retired in 1986. Farrell made many friends over the years, at multiple golf courses here in Colorado Springs, that he referred to as his "Golfin' Buddies". Farrell was an avid gardener of not only tomatoes but many other fruits and vegetables. His yard was adorned with many different types of trees, plants and flowers over the decades that he planted, tended and harvested.

Farrell is survived by two of his children, Beth and Blake along with 4 granddaughters and 6 great grandchildren.

The memorial service is March 9, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Memorial Gardens Funeral, Cremation & Cemetery located at 3825 Airport Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80910. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Care and Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado. https://careandshare.org/
