Faustina (Tina) Roybal
July 21, 1942 - September 8, 2025
Faustina (Tina) was born on July 21, 1942, in Punta De Agua, New Mexico to her parents, Enrique Sanchez and Emelia Jaramillo Sanchez. Her siblings include Mel Sanchez, Regina Sanchez Griego, Ramona Sanchez Mosley, Angelina (Angie) Sanchez, and Rudy Sanchez. Tina graduated from Mountainair High School in Mountainair, New Mexico.
After her high school graduation, Tina moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she met Jose (Joe) Roybal. Tina and Joe married on September 8, 1961, and had two daughters, Jeanette Roybal Gutierrez and Brenda Roybal.
Tina had a 28-year career with Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) working as a bilingual assistant, teacher’s assistant, and cafeteria staff at several APS schools including Armijo ES, Griegos ES, Mountain View ES, John Adam’s MS, and West Mesa HS. During her career with APS, Tina worked with and was loved by many children of all ages. Many of these children continued to recognize her throughout the Albuquerque area long after retiring from APS. Throughout her career, Tina also met many friends and colleagues of whom she remained very close with until the day she passed away.
Throughout the last 64 years, Tina and Joe have faithfully attended Holy Family Church in Albuquerque’s South Valley. During this time they have been heavily involved in many church groups and activities. They also have had the privilege of meeting and befriending many people and clergy. Many of these individuals have remained very close to this day.
Tina has been preceded in death by her parents, Enrique and Emelia Sanchez, brother Mel Sanchez, sister Regina Sanchez, brothers-in-law Alonso Martinez, Efren Ruiz, Felipe Griego, and George Mosley, sisters-in-law Evila (Maria) Roybal Ruiz, Juanita Dow Sanchez, and Gloria Triana Sanchez, and many beloved cousins including Cordelia (Cordy) Sanchez Mares and Oralia (Lollie) Sanchez Silva. Tina leaves behind, husband Joe Roybal, daughter, Jeanette Roybal Gutierrez and Brenda Roybal, son—in-law, Carlos Gutierrez, grandchildren, Adam Ortiz, Eric Gutierrez and wife, Brittany Lujan Gutierrez, Alexandra Gutierrez and husband JJ Giere, Mark Gutierrez, and Santiago Siordia, great grandchildren, Jeremiah Armenta, Stella May Chavez, Ezekiel Gutierrez, Elijah Gutierrez, and baby Emma Gutierrez Giere to be born any day now.
A Rosary Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, 8:30 a.m. with a funeral Mass immediately following at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 562 Atrisco Drive S.W., Albuquerque, New Mexico, 87105. A burial service will be held immediately following at 10:30 a.m. at Mount Calvert Cemetery, 1900 Edith Boulevard S.E., Albuquerque, NM 87102. All are welcome to a reception immediately following the burial service at the Holy Family Church Parish Hall.
Tina's pallbearers include Rudy Sanchez, Carlos Gutierrez, Adam Ortiz, Eric Gutierrez, Mark Gutierrez, and JJ Giere. Honorary pallbearers are Santiago Siordia, Jeremiah Armenta, Stella May Chavez, Ezekiel Gutierrez, and Elijah Gutierrez.
