Faustino Cortes-Garcia Obituary
Born in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Maximino Garcia and Candelaria Cortes. He retired as a Command Master Chief from the United States Navy after many years of honorable service. He was a Vietnam veteran receiving several medals and honors. He also served 4 years in the United States Army prior to his naval career.
Left to cherish his memory: his wife of 65 years, Felipa G. Cortes and their children: son, Faustino Cortes, Jr. of Delray Beach, FL; daughter, Lillian Cortes Munoz of Virginia Beach; daughter, Ana Cortes Vaughan of Norfolk; son, Luis F. Cortes of Virginia Beach; son, Richard Cortes of Norfolk; and son, Victor Cortes of Evans, GA; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Dr. Chapel on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, Feb. 17 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery with full military honors. I am sorry, we only heard of Faustino's death yesterday. He will always be remembered in the neighborhood for his smiling face while walking the streets of the village.
