Fay Presley Conner went to be with her Savior and Lord on Jan. 5, 2009, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation in Decatur. She was born Nov. 10, 1911, in Pocahontas, Ark., to Mary Emma Jackson and James Wesley Presley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Conner Sr., and son, Robert E. Conner Jr.
Mrs. Conner was an honor graduate of Phillips High School in Birmingham, where she was active in the music and drama departments and the girls basketball program. She was chosen Miss Personality, which is now the Miss Alabama competition. She was also a graduate of the Birmingham Conservatory of Music and did additional work at Athens State College. While residing in Birmingham, she was a member and soloist for First Baptist Church of Birmingham and also participated in the Birmingham Civic Opera. Mrs. Conner was a member of Central Baptist Church of Decatur, where she served as organist, choir soloist, music director and children's coordinator.
In 1993, Mrs. Conner retired from MICOM at Redstone Arsenal, where she received numerous awards for superior service and performance. She also was a librarian at Decatur High School and Wheeler Basin Regional Library. She was a member of Le Club Entre Meres, The Community Convert Association and The Decatur Music Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Julich (Marvin); a son, Neal Presley Conner; nine grandchildren, Marvin Julich Jr. (Angela), Rebecca Julich Patterson, Steve Conner (Susan), Mark Conner (Dawn), Lance Conner (Theresa), Robert E. Conner III, Melissa Conner De La Garza (Michael), Wesley Conner and Clark Conner; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held today, Jan. 8, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with visitation from noon to 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. Rev. Archie Hampton, Dr. Rob Jackson and Dr. Bob Jackson will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the music ministry of Central Baptist Church or the Decatur Public Library.
The family would like to thank the compassionate and loving care afforded Mrs. Conner by the staff at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation of Decatur.

Faye Conner was a very unique and talented lady. The Lord blessed her with many talents,and a very wonderful family. She was someone that I respected and loved.I know the Lord was pleased with her life here on earth.
