Faye D. "Hayes" Baldwin

Faye Doris Baldwin was born in Birmingham, Alabama, to Clifford
Herman and Queen Ester Hayes on October 2, 1940.
She was educated in the Birmingham City school system, attending Ullman
High and completing her secondary education in Buffalo, New York. She
later attended Booker T. Washington Business College in Birmingham,
Alabama.
In 1960, Faye was united in holy matrimony to Samuel E. Baldwin. This
union was blessed with five beautiful daughters. She taught her children
about the Lord and the value of living a life of love and wisdom. When it
comes to speaking proper English, Faye was a stickler (LOL), even in her
latter days.
She was employed for more than 20 years at Sears and Roebuck and the
Better Business Bureau. She retired in order to care for her mother.
In the early 1970s, Faye accepted Christ, was baptized, and received the
gift of the Holy Ghost at Helen Durham Temple AOH Church of God in
Chicago, Illinois, under the leadership of Elder Tommy Jones, Sr. She later
returned to Birmingham, Alabama, and united with the 17th Street AOH
Church of God under the leadership of Bishop Jasper Roby. At 17th Street,
she faithfully served in many capacities, including YPLJ Band director,
Sunday School teacher, member of the Malindettes, and Adult Choir
member. Faye later became Choir Director and held the position for 32
years. She also served as Choir President until she became ill. She was truly
God's faithful servant. She loved serving the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Queen and Clifford Hayes;
siblings, Marion Deloise Coleman, Minnie L. Crenshaw, Herman Hayes,
Helen Singleton, and Elizabeth Hayes; loving daughter, Maria Baldwin;
and grandson, Broderick Naldorski Baldwin.
She leaves behind to cherish and honor her legacy: her four daughters,
Sharon Genise Baldwin of Birmingham, Nanette (Michael) Jones of Georgia,
Karen (Robert) Thomas of Birmingham, and Monica Baldwin Wells of
Birmingham; seven grandchildren, Louis Cortez (Sherwanda) Baldwin,
Katasha (Glenn) Peterson, Bridgette Baldwin, Naomi Thomas, Michaela
Jones, Mitchell Jones, and Joshua Wells; seven great-grandchildren, India
Baldwin, Zakaiya Baldwin, Glenn Peterson III, Louis Baldwin, Jr. (LJ),
Zamir Baldwin, Braylen Carter Baldwin, and Riyan Baldwin; and a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins, and sisters and brothers in Christ.
