Faye (Micah) Cannon passed away unexpectedly on September 28, 2025. She was born as Micah Cannon on July 26, 2002, to Katherine Cannon and Michael Cannon in Morristown, Vermont.
Micah spent his early childhood in Hyde Park, Vermont, with his parents, his sister Kaia, his dog Junior, and his beloved cat, Huck. Huck joined the family a just few months before Micah's birth and she quickly became his loyal companion. She stayed by his side until her passing in 2019. Micah always loved to create and express his imagination. From elaborate train track layouts (he loved to chug trains with his dad) to intricate Lego sets he found joy in escaping to worlds that he created. Micah was a talented artist and expressed his imagination through art, particularly painting and drawing. Micah also had a deep love for reading.
When Micah was 10, his family relocated to Salt Lake City. There, his passion for drawing grew into a love for writing, and he discovered a gifted talent for storytelling.
In high school, Micah began to realize that his path of self-discovery was just beginning. In the years that followed, he embraced his transition and chose the name Faye. She embraced this new chapter of her life with courage and authenticity, carrying with her the same creativity and love for connection that have always defined her.
While Faye chose to keep much of her writings private, she recently began publishing some of her writing online. She was profoundly moved when she would hear from readers about the impact her writing had on them. Her love for reading and writing led her to a position at the Salt Lake City Library as a library aide.
Faye will be remembered for her empathy, her kindness and compassion, and her creative spirit that touched everyone she met. She gave the best hugs. Though her time was far too short, she leaves behind a lasting legacy in the hearts of her family, her friends, and all who have been moved through her writing.
She is survived by her parents, Katherine Cannon and Michael Cannon; her sister, Kaia; and her maternal grandparents, Patrick and Antonia Williams. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as countless friends who cherished her. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Miriam Cannon, and Thomas and Amelia Cannon.
A celebration of life will be held, and details will be announced at a later date.
