Faye Jewell Chandler

Funeral Services for Faye Jewell Malone Claunch Chandler, 95, of Butler will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at 3:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Bumpers Funeral Home with Rev. Leslie Spiller and her grandchildren officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Sterling Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Faye Chandler passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, at Choctaw General Hospital in Butler, surrounded by her loving children. Born on July 13, 1930, in Cromwell, Alabama, she was the daughter of William S. Malone and Nona Long Hynde, and one of five siblings. Ms. Faye dedicated her life to serving others, raising her four children alone. She also lovingly cared for her mother until her passing and for her second husband until his death. Ms. Faye worked as a seamstress at Vanity Fair until she retired. Known for her wisdom and strong character, she was always open about her thoughts and insisted on doing things the right way. In her free time, she enjoyed chatting on the phone, completing puzzles and word searches, and quilting. Ms. Faye took great joy in reading her Bible and cherished her family above all else. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her absence will leave a significant void, and she will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her children, Michael L. Claunch (Shasta), Ina Faye "Cissy" McIlwain (Danny), Wanda C. Faile (Sherman), and James Randall Claunch (Rolanda); step-children, Robert V. Chandler (Denise), Franklin W. Chandler, Jr. (Debra), and Victor Chandler; grandchildren, Cheryll Waldrop (Glen), Jody Claunch (Alison), Susan Goldman (Neil), Sandra Tubbs (Bobby), Scott McIlwain(Brooke), Wade Faile (Lori), Bonnie Keller (Ray), Greyson Faile (Bridget), Patrick Claunch (Melissa), and Harley Gibbs (Phillip); step-grandchildren, Leigh Anne Poole (Phil), Kathryn Chandler, Fred Chandler, Jon Chandler, Summer Chandler, Lara Chandler, and Paul Chandler; 26 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; sister, Janell Hughes (Harry ); and numerous other family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Luther G. Claunch; second husband, Franklin W. Chandler Sr., parents, William S. Malone and Nona Long Hynde; brothers, H.W. Malone and U. R. Malone; sister, Rita Kay Malone; step-daughters-in-law, Bessie Chandler and Brenda Chandler; grandson, Mark Claunch; and great grandchildren, Katie and Emily Faile.

Pallbearers include Jody Claunch, Scott McIlwain, Wade Faile, Greyson Faile, Noah Goldman, and Ray Keller.

The family kindly requests in lieu of flowers the memorials be made to the Mt. Sterling Cemetery Fund at 1989 Mt. Sterling Rd, Butler, Alabama 36904, in memory of Ms. Faye.
