Faye Morton Garrett, age 93, widow of Charlie Clay Garrett, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the Wolfe County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Campton, Kentucky. She was born in Bowen, Kentucky, to the late Leonard Morton and the late Iva Reed Morton. Faye graduated at the age of 15 as the Valedictorian from Powell County High School in 1948, showcasing her dedication and intellect. Over the years, she worked at the University of Kentucky Experiment Station within the Agricultural Department, where she contributed to important agricultural research. Faye was also the first librarian at the Powell County Library, where she enjoyed fostering a love of reading and learning in her community. Additionally, she held a vital role at the Powell County Bank, managing Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs), and continued to work there until she retired as the Assistant Vice President. Faye's deep involvement in the community was evident through her affiliation with youth programs and her service as a Sunday School teacher at the Bowen Church of Christ, where she nurtured the spiritual growth of many young minds. She was also a member of the Women of the Church of God at the Bowen First Church of God, dedicating countless hours to support various initiatives, including directing the Vacation Bible School, and singing in the church choir. For many years, Faye lovingly cared for her parents, daughter, and husband, embodying the true spirit of devotion and family. Her passions included quilting, crocheting, and solving crossword puzzles, matched only by her love for reading and cooking. Faye had a special talent for creating delectable cinnamon rolls, biscuits, and savory gravy, particularly on Christmas morning, making the holidays even more memorable for her loved ones. Family was the center of her universe, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Faye was known for her unwavering consistency; she was a beacon of steadiness, kindness, and determination—truly the quintessential mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her profound knowledge of the Bible and her commitment to studying it reflected her unwavering faith, which guided her in all aspects of life. In addition to her parents and husband, Faye is preceded in death by her first husband, Lester Farmer; one son, Paul David Garrett; one daughter, Audrey Farmer Leigh; two sons-in-law: Jim Hall and Monty Leigh; and one grandson-in-law, Timothy Addison. She is survived by one son, John Stephen (Linda) Farmer; one daughter, Sandra Farmer Hall; one sister, Sharon Morton Neal; four grandchildren: Christy Farmer (Danny) Dailey, Jr., Sarah Beth McClure, Rachel Ellen (D.J.)
