Glenda Faye McCain, 87, of Newport, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Carteret Health Care.
A funeral service to honor Faye’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 22nd at Life Point Church in Newport, officiated by Rev. Ray Conner. Interment will follow at Cannady Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
Born on March 7, 1938, in Newport, NC, Faye was the daughter of the late Rupert and Ethel Gould. She was a beautiful Christian woman whose life was anchored in the Word of God. Faye was a devoted member of Life Point Church where she enjoyed her church family. Over the years, Faye faithfully taught Sunday School, patiently leading, guiding, and shaping the lives of countless children.
Faye worked for many years as a bank teller at First Citizens, where she was known not just for her reliability, but for her kindness. She had a big heart and a beautiful smile, and those who knew her best will always remember how loved she made them feel.
Faye found joy in the simple, beautiful things in life. She loved watching birds, tending her flowers, and spending time in her garden. Living on the coast, she enjoyed boating and clamming, and though she would never admit it, she enjoyed going to the beach.
Above all else, Faye adored her family. They were the center of her world, and she loved them deeply and faithfully. Her love, strength, and example will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughters, Teresa Miller (Tom) of Beaufort, NC and Wendy McCain of Newport, NC; son, Dennis McCain (Krysta) of Rocky Point, NC; brother, Wally R. Gould (Patsy) of Newport, NC; six grandchildren, Ryan Miller (Chelsea), Erin Smith (Stephen), Jordan Miller (Emily), Morgan McCain, Emma Faye McCain and Curtis Wade McCain; great grandchildren, Thomas, Anna, John Ryan, Henry, Jack and Evelyn Faye; niece, Karen Gould; nephew, Andrew Gould; great-nephew, Hayden; and caregiver and friend, Debbie Tomlinson.
In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Daniel "D.N." McCain who passed away in 2010.
